Wednesday 2nd.February 2011

Two long hard days hedgelaying in grey , drizzly conditions , and tomorrow working up on the Common , has meant no wildlife sightings for three days . I have though , managed to process more shots from Monday's trip to Dungeness , and am posting them with brief captions .
One of the first shots taken , Canada Geese over the ARC pit in the morning gloom .

On the track down to the visitor centre , the male Mute Swan on the right definitely thought it was Spring , as it persued the female relentlessly .

The Reed Buntings liked to think they owned the feeders in the car park , but others attempted to prove otherwise . Just one of the rafts of Wigeon , seen from Scott Hide .Real estate is obviously at a premium outside Dengemarsh Hide , all posts were taken .Whilst on our failed mission to find the Glaucous Gull or the Ravens , this immature Herring Gull posed on one of the fisherman's huts .The whole flock , numbering nearly 50 , of Bewick Swans that took off , then turned and flew the length of the ARC pit in the late afternoon sun . The last shot I took that afternoon , as 7 Cormorants came in to roost .
