Sunday 18th.July 2010

After spending yesterday and this morning doing family things , I got out for a couple of hours this afternoon and headed to High Elms to check up on the Silver Washed Fritillaries , before next Sunday's visit by Kent Butterfly Conservation members . Highlights of my visit were ,
A very active Red Admiral , feeding frenziedly on a cream coloured Buddleia .
A very freshly emerged Peacock .One of several freshly emerged Brimstones , this one a male .Silver Washed Fritillary number have not risen since last weekend , recording just 10 , including this female , one of two found , the second being courted .Another very fresh emergent , Comma .Yet again , I put up a Roe Deer at Burnt Gorse , this time a Buck .
No problem with spot numbers here , with these two making more 6 Spot Burnet moths . A change from Common , this time Musk Mallow-Malva moschata .On the way back to the car , a moth on it's food plant Elm , Clouded Magpie .

Very envious of your bright sunshine, Greenie.
Just like last year at this time, the Buddleia`s are flowering and the weather has gone downhill. Making for a waste of nectar.

Lovely selection of butterflies, all looking very smart especially the Comma I thought.

At least we have some sun here today but it is so windy still which makes trying to photograph butterflies etc really difficult.

Hi Greenie, more strokes of luck for me, thanks for posting all the Dene Park stuff.
Hoping for a good moth night tonight.
Great butterflies.
